Gorillaz tour headed to Miami's III Points Festival in October

The Gorillaz will stop by New York City when the group kicks off its North American tour this summer for the first time in seven years.

The tour kicks off July 8 at the Huntington Bank Pavillon at Northerly Island in Chicago, before wrapping up October 15 at the III Points Festival in Miami.

The humans behind the animated band Gorillaz will perform at Detroit's Fox Theatre on September 18, tour officials announced Monday.

After a five-year hiatus, Gorillaz's much-anticipated return is a big score for Life is lovely, as the band, which seldom tours, will be making its Vegas debut. Those who buy tickets after the album's release date, will have instructions emailed to them 7-10 days after purchase.

The tour will kickoff in Chicago with a show at Northerly Island. Tickets for the Gorillaz Red Rocks show go on presale April 20 at 10 a.m. and will be available here.

Since 2000, Damon Albarn of Blur fame and illustrator Jamie Hewlett, best known for co-creating the comic book Tank Girl, have been shaping their own alternative rock/hip-hop/what-have-you act with Gorillaz.
