Clare Waight Keller Named Creative Director At Givenchy

Givenchy has announced Thursday March 16, 2017 the appointment of Keller as new designer, signaling a change in artistic direction for the Paris fashion house. Her first collection for Givenchy will debut in October.

But just over an hour ago, Givenchy put an end to speculation as the brand announced Clare Waight Keller as the new artistic director via Instagram. But if you click through her collections for Chloé over the years, you might notice that Givenchy's influence has already made several cameos. It'll be interesting to see how these two circles come together in the new age of Givenchy - and where Waight Keller takes the house next. Her pieces are elegant, soft and distinctly feminine, which results in a modern interpretation of the "Chloé" girl.

She takes over in May from star designer Riccardo Tisci, who is credited with reviving Givenchy by cultivating links with a long line of celebrities including singers Beyonce and Madonna and rapper Kanye West and his wife, reality television star Kim Kardashian. "By exploring our Maison's 65 year heritage and the outstanding Savoir-Faire of its Ateliers, I am convinced Clare will help Givenchy reach its full potential", added Philippe Fortunato, Chief Executive Officer of Givenchy.

Waight Keller is well aware of the Givenchy legacy.

In a statement released shortly after the Insta announcement, Keller stated: "Hubert de Givenchy's confident style has always been an inspiration and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this legendary house's history". As for Tisci, there's no confirmation as to his next move, but the rumors point to Versace.
