Selina Meyer Rises From the Ashes in Veep Season Six Trailer
She's flanked, as always, but her loyal right-hand man Gary (Tony Hale), who she sends towards potential landminds, as well as the bumbling Mike (Matt Walsh), who Selina refers to as "the world's least-fucked geisha" after his poor attempts at applying sunscreen. "You know, really fun!" chimes Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former President of the United States Selina Meyer in the official trailer for Season 6 of Veep, which was shared during the show's panel at SXSW.
The clip is only a minute and a half long, but it manages to pack a whole lot of punch-enough to get viewers riled up with anticipation.
"In some ways, for the last five years, I think the most Trump-like character on the show [has been] Selina-the ego, the narcissism and sometimes, the stupidity".
The new Veep season 6 trailer opens with the former POTUS on a morning show, sharing some information on what her life is now after losing the elections.
The award-winning comedy's sixth season looks set to pick up after the events of the aforementioned Season 5 finale as Meyer struggles to define her legacy as one of the shortest-serving presidents in history. According to Mandel, there are still a lot of stuff that past U.S. presidents have to attend to. "If we try to make a joke about what Trump did yesterday on Veep, by the time it [airs] in May, it would seem like the oldest, stalest joke in the world", showrunner David Mandel said.
It wasn't a great year for Selina Meyer.
Outside of Austin, the Veepstakes continue rising, too: On Monday, HBO released the trailer for season six-which premieres April 16-to show a look at how Meyer's post-Presidential life will play out. Asked whether she herself would ever consider going into politics, Louis-Dreyfus revealed she has no plans of doing so.
