Simon Cowell Slams Zayn Malik for One Direction-Inspired Show

Not only is Zayn Malik still showing the world what he's made of with his solo music, he's now venturing into television-and it's inspired by his whirlwind career as a One Direction member. Working with Law and Order creator Dick Wolf and his wife Naomi Wolf, the singer told press: 'Dick Wolf is a legend and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome'. After getting eliminated, the Bradford native went back to the show to form One Direction, known as the most successful act that came out from 'The X-Factor'.

"Nothing surprises me anymore", Cowell added.

Zayn has teamed up with Dick Wolf, the legendary TV producer, for the hour-long boy band drama which will be created with NBC.

"I do actually believe that when they've got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me", Cowell said.

"I think he should have come to me with it", the 56-year-old television judge and entrepreneur said. The series will draw from Malik's experience with One Direction, which he left in March 2015.

He went on to become the first British male artist to arrive at No. 1 on the charts in the USA and United Kingdom with his debut album, Mind Over Matter and single, "PILLOWTALK".

Earlier this week (ends11Sep16), the handsome singer pulled out of a scheduled gig in the United Arab Emirates on 7 October (16), saying that despite his attempts to combat the condition, he doesn't feel performance ready yet.
