Sissoko rejects Everton move claims

Tottenham later announced the completion of the transfer, which will see Sissoko remain with the north London club until 2021, after agreeing a fee reportedly in the region of £30million with Newcastle.

Moussa Sissoko "will give Tottenham Hotspur another option offensively", according to France global teammate Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to make a late move for unsettled Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko after he was given permission to leave the France training camp, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.

McCarthy, 25, joined Everton in September 2013 and played more than 30 games in all competitions for the club last season, but Sissoko's arrival could have put the Ireland international's place in manager Ronald Koeman's squad under threat. The 27-year-old swapped Newcastle United for White Hart Lane on a five-year deal but not before flirting with a move to Merseyside.

Sissoko has penned a deal until 2021 and now reveals that global colleague Lloris - the Tottenham skipper - convinced him to move to Mauricio Pochettino's side.

"I know him very well, we have been together with the national team for a while", the Daily Star quotes the Spurs skipper as saying.

"I hope to have a good season and I'm happy to be able to play in the Champions League".
