Arsene Wenger: Paul Pogba to Manchester United 'ticks all the boxes'

Manchester United great Andy Cole hailed his former club's acquisition of Paul Pogba, describing the returning Frenchman as the exact type of player the Premier League giants need.

Many changes have taken place at Manchester United throughout this summer so far, with Jose Mourinho's appointment having a telling impact already. That's showbiz, in which United have a specific role to play. Hark, is that wailing Arsenal fans you hear?

"The value of a player is dependent on his talent, the expected strengthening of the team, his age and of course his resale value", Wenger said, speaking at the launch of the Premier League on Wednesday.

Speaking to our partner brand Planet Football, Parlour said: "It's going to be interesting to see where he plays, because how do you get the best out of him?"

Mourinho, though, is more bothered about what happens on the pitch and believes Pogba can become "a reference for this club".

Manchester United legend Andy Cole spoke exclusively to after the announcement that France global Paul Pogba has joined the club from Juventus...

"The fee, well that is how football is nowadays".

Paul Pogba's influence was curbed by the relatively restrictive role assigned to him by Didier Deschamps at Euro 2016. "Pogba, Ibrahimovic, and co. haven't been signed to finish third or fourth".

Mourinho insists he spent for what is worth, and further derided Wenger and Klopp claiming they can not afford such a big move, stating that they do not represent clubs as big as Manchester United. "(Juan) Mata we have, we have possibly (Wayne) Rooney, we have (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan, we have No.10s".

"Manchester United now have got a very good team".

Mourinho may have signed the midfielder he believes can drive United to glory, but it is now about so much more than what happens on the pitch. Chances are, however, that he will still be given enough opportunity to achieve that honour, which will add extra lustre to United's roster.
