Plano Police tells CBS11 Kenneth Alan Amyx, 45, has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend and posting bloody pictures of her on Facebook.

On Sunday, officers were called to a disturbance at an apartment in the 2300 block of Kathryn Lane.

A photo of the suspect covered in blood as well as a picture of the victim's body was posted on the victim's Facebook page during the murder with a caption reading "Please pray for us".

Kenneth Alan Amyx is seen in a booking photo on the Collin County's website.

Amyx was also found inside the unit with multiple stab wounds, police told the station.

The first showed Steit-Spears' dead body.

He was treated and released and then taken to jail.

Her sister immediately called police after seeing the gory images and tried in vain to have them pulled from Facebook.

A friend of Steit-Spears saw the picture and was horrified by the gruesome images.

At the time of writing, the photos do not appear on the public version of Streit-Spears page.

A spokesperson for Facebook defended their actions to CBS11, saying graphic photos are not a violation of Facebook's policy and even though they were flagged, they could not be removed until monitors determined Spears profile was hacked.

Amyx was previously convicted of ongoing sexual abuse of a minor in Rockwall County, as well indecent exposure in Dallas County, according to inmate records. He is being held in the Collin County jail on $600,000 bail.
