Los Angeles Lakers announce 2 exhibition games set for T-Mobile Arena

Not only will the Los Angeles Lakers move their annual Las Vegas exhibition from MGM Grand Garden to the new T-Mobile Arena, the NBA franchise will play two preseason games at the new venue.

The Lakers announced their preseason schedule Friday and it includes an Oct. the 13th game against the Sacramento Kings and an Oct. the 15th game against the defending champion Golden State Warriors. The Kings game is set for 7:30 p.m. while Warriors contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

Days after the Lakers parted ways with Scott, the team hired former Lakers player and current Golden State Warriors assistant Luke Walton to be head coach.

The team finished 17-65 this season and went 38-126 under Scott's watch, putting up two of the worst single season records in Lakers history.

Since he has only been in the league for two seasons, Clarkson falls under the "Gilbert Arenas provision", meaning teams can only offer the midlevel exception for the first two years and then backload the third year (like what happened to Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik with the Houston Rockets). If the Lakers are armed with a player of Anthony's caliber, a young, cheap, talented piece like Julius Randle, a name coach like Walton, and their unparalleled location - the formation of the superteam of superteams in Southern California is not out of the question. Bryant has backed Walton as a future head coach for years, praising his intelligence and understanding of the game.

Instead the Lakers moved on and brought in Luke Walton, a young coach they believe can grow with his young team. But I think he uses the book as a guide to what we were doing when we first got there, more so even last year than this year.

"I'm excited for him, but at the same time, this does sting a little bit", he said.

Honestly, I don't think that is a question that can be answered overnight, and in some cases, I wonder if the Lakers are even in the "I need saving" conversation.

Given that last night's Cavaliers/Hawks game was nothing short of a clinic for Cleveland, now looks like as good a time as any for me to venture away from my usual playoff insight and give my take on a few other stories that are happening around "The Association". For me, to be honest with you, it's like it's forgotten, it's over with. Mychal Thompson, father of Warriors' guard Klay Thompson and a member of the Lakers' Showtime championship teams said on his ESPN radio show (h/t Diamond Leung of Inside the Warriors) that he could be the Lakers' top scorer.

Now, after his impressive season, Clarkson has made it clear that he wants to stay with the Lakers according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The team also risks not having a first-round pick completely if the lottery is against their favor.
